Advocate for affordable housing
Why we Advocate
Affordable housing is more than a roof over someone’s head—it’s the foundation for stability, opportunity, and a stronger community.
At Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley, we believe everyone deserves access to a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. But for many hardworking families in our community, the cost of housing continues to outpace what they can afford.
That’s why our work goes beyond building homes. We advocate for policies, partnerships, and community solutions that help make affordable homeownership possible for more people in Gallatin Valley.
From housing costs to zoning laws, we advocate for smarter, more inclusive policies—and we need your voice too. We stand alongside Habitat for Humanity International in working to change policies and systems that keep families from accessing safe, affordable housing both here in the Valley and around the world.

Trust Montana
The need for affordable housing cannot be solved by one organization alone. Rising construction costs, limited housing supply, land availability, and the gap between local wages and housing costs all create challenges for families looking to buy a home.
Habitat works alongside community members, businesses, volunteers, local organizations, and community leaders to help address these barriers and expand access to affordable homeownership.
Why Advocacy Matters
More Affordable Homeownership Opportunities
We support efforts that increase the availability of homes that working families can realistically afford.
Policies That Support Affordable Housing
We engage with community leaders and policymakers on issues that affect the cost, availability, and development of affordable housing.
Stronger Community Partnerships
Creating lasting housing solutions requires collaboration. We work to bring together nonprofits, businesses, financial institutions, volunteers, and community leaders around shared housing goals.
Housing Stability
Affordable homeownership can provide families with greater financial stability and the opportunity to build equity over time. We support solutions that help families achieve and maintain long-term housing stability.
