Home Repair Program

Established in 2011, Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley, Inc.’s Home Repair Program helps low- and very low-income homeowners remain in safe, decent, and affordable homes. By addressing critical health and safety needs, the program supports neighborhood stability and allows homeowners to age in place. Habitat provides repairs in Gallatin County, focusing on safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency improvements.

APPLICATION STATUS

Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley is accepting Home Repair Program applications on a case by case basis.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

Eligible projects include:

  • Health and safety hazard corrections

  • Accessibility improvements

  • Cost-effective energy efficiency upgrades

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Be the owner-occupant of a modest single-family home

  • Own and live in Gallatin, Park, or Eastern Madison Counties

  • Have mobile homes on a permanent foundation, pillars, or blocks

  • Meet low or very low-income limits as defined by HUD (county-specific and updated annually)

  • In some cases, live in USDA-designated rural areas, depending on funding

Habitat counts wages from household members 18 and older and non-wage income from all household members, including public benefits. Student financial aid is not counted.

WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER

Applicants must demonstrate a willingness to partner by completing required paperwork, attending meetings, contributing financially as able, and completing agreed-upon sweat equity hours.

Habitat typically provides labor for approved projects. Applicants may be responsible for non-labor material costs.

SELECTION PROCESS

Qualified applicants will receive a home assessment to determine project eligibility and feasibility. Final selection is based on need, safety concerns, feasibility, and available funding.
